What exactly is Barrel Racing?
Barrel Racing is a timed event where a rider runs a course marked by barrels usually
in an arena. The event is a test of rider agility and equine skill. Barrel racing
is highly competitive as the horses are very fast, highly trained and very aggressive
in order to beat the competition. Riding a barrel racing horse in a competition
is not for the faint at heart!
In general the pattern at a show must meet the following conditions:
- a minimum of 15 feet between each of the first two barrels and the side fence,
- a minimum of 30 feet between the third barrel and the back fence,
- a minimum of 30 feet between the time line and the first barrel.
Local promoters and show organizers use a barrel pattern that best fits their arena,
subject to the above restrictions. Most barrel racing events have various levels
from the novice to the seasoned competitor.
Charmayne James an 11 times world champion barrel racer drinks Tahitian Noni Juice
herself and feeds her horses Tahitian Noni Equine Essentials. She has been quoted
saying that “noni is one of the most important aspects of my family’s health including
my horses and dogs.”
