Manage that weight loss by following these tips:
- Resist the urge to slip back into some of your old habits thinking that they won’t
hurt you now that you’ve lost all your weight. This is one of the biggest stumbling
blocks to maintaining your lower weight.
- Keep interested by learning more about fitness, nutrition and weight loss through
magazines and books.
- Be on the lookout for good recipes in magazines, on the internet or books. Keep
your palette interested so that you don’t get bored and start eating like you did
before your weight loss.
- Be vigilant, protect your new lifestyle and when possible find others who are like
minded – even if it is through message boards on the internet. You can get great
ideas and encouragement.
- Keep exercising. Join a casual sports team, a fitness class or keep active in the
ways that you enjoy most. Pull in a friend to join you or meet people who have the
same interests.
- Offer to mentor or help someone who wants to lose weight. Show them what worked
for you. Besides helping someone it will be a way of keeping yourself accountable
to someone even if they don’t realize it.
- Celebrate every 3 months your ability to maintain your weight. Plan something really
special when you’ve reached a year. It’s an accomplishment and should be celebrated
as such.
