When you think about it, our body is made up of 50 to 70 percent water. It is essential
for our body’s function. The less water you drink the more sluggish your body becomes.
Water:
- helps your brain function properly.
- helps maintain normal blood pressure and circulation.
- dissolves nutrients and helps to digest food.
- carries away waste products through perspiration it cools the body down when overheated.
- gives you energy by keeping your cells hydrated makes your skin softer, clearer.
We’ve all been told to drink 8 glasses of water a day. Basically this replaces the
amount of water we lose by natural processes in a day. Part of that water intake
can be substituted with herbal teas, milk and 100% real fruit juice.
At first glance 8 glasses of water seems like a lot but you can build up the number
of glasses over a week or two by increasing 1 glass a day every couple of days.
The following are some tips of how to increase your water intake:
- drink a glass of water with each meal and each snack. For most people that will
cover off 5 glasses right there.
- When eating something salty, eat a bit at a time with several large sips of water.
- Take a water bottle with you in the car or have a glass or bottle at work.
- Add variety by adding a slice of lemon or lime to your glass of water.
The more water you drink, the more you want to drink!
